About

John Alan Droese

I grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago where I graduated High School in 1995 from Adali E. Stevenson in Lincolnshire, IL. Directly after I went to the University of Iowa where I completed my GEDs before leaving for Columbia College Chicago's film program, but after a few years found myself getting more and more into the web.

I got my first domain in 1998 when I left Columbia College to work and do freelance design. I went back to school in 2003 and finished my BA with a 4.0 GPA at the International Academy of Design and Technology with a major in new media design.

Through the late 1990's I worked as an artist assistant briefly, where I also taught kid and preteen art classes, and ran a downtown Chicago art supply store. I sold dozens of paintings and mixed media works form 1997 to 2003 and had a few month stay in a Chicago gallery.

While freelancing I was involved with all types of projects, from print to television, to film and products, but I gravitated to the web almost immediately. Designing a T-Shirt, a CD cover, or anything else old media was not as challenging as designing for new media.

I was the Creative Director for eClick Performance in Chicago, IL. where I stressed the balance between design and usability to our clients and managed the creative department before leaving late 2009 to pursue a job with an Internet startup.

I currently work as a contract employee with AIS Labs in Chicago doing design and front-end development while also working with my Internet startup team. Hopefully our site will launch later this year and I can go into more detail about the project.

With over ten years of experience designing and building all types of web sites, I strive to produce intuitive user interfaces within slick and dynamic designs that put substance ahead of flare.
